"It’s not how good you are, It’s how good you want to be - Paul Arden"
Bio:
Vegetarian, Tech Obsessed, Yoga Enthusiast, Traveler.
Prior to founding Lover.ly, you joined with your sister and helped her to run Be Inspired PR, a firm focused on the bridal industry. Did you run into any issues or complications working closely with your sister? What does your sister think of Lover.ly?
Working with my sister, Leila, was how I learned the bridal industry. My sister has been in weddings for 7 years so I was able to get a crash course in all things weddings by working closely with her. She also happened to get engaged just as I joined her team so our lives were consumed with wedding business and wedding planning. It was during my time at BIPR that I felt the pain of the planning process and saw the opportunity for technology. Leila is super passionate about what we are doing at Lover.ly and is part of the founding team! It has been amazing to have one of the best digital marketing, and PR brains in the bridal industry on our team and more importantly as a sister!
What are some of your favorite vegetarian friendly restaurants here in New York?
I always find something delicious and vegetarian wherever I go. I will say my new favorite veggie friendly spot is Westville in the West Village and I'm a big fan of Balboosta in Nolita too. YUM!
Joanne Wilson wrote that you were here in New York for an event representing your sister and you took one look at the City to decide this was the place for you. What makes NYC special to you?
I'm born and raised in Los Angeles, I attended college at USC so I've been in LA my whole life. I felt complacent and bored with LA so when I arrived to NYC in 2009 for Bridal fashion week I fell in love with the energy and the hustle of the city.. I knew it would be a challenge to adjust to the weather, transportation, and living in small spaces, but it was just what i needed. I also believe that NYC has a unique mixing of technology and media which was a perfect environment for Lover.ly's incubation and development.
