"Water Changes Everything."
Bio:
Five years ago, charity: water founder, Scott Harrison decided to ‘give up’ his birthday for clean water. Since then, thousands of people have asked their friends and family for a donation to charity: water instead of another T-shirt or iPad. In two years, the birthday idea has grown to raise over $10 million and our supporters included notables like Jack Dorsey, Sean Parker and Dennis Crowley.
To date, charity: water has provided clean, safe drinking water to 2 million people in 19 countries. We use 100% of public donations to directly fund sustainable water solutions in areas of greatest need.
Right now, almost a billion people on the planet don’t have access to clean and safe drinking water. That’s one in eight of us.
Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable as their bodies aren’t strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.
Just $20 can give one person access to a clean water project.

September Campaign
This September, we’re asking everyone we know to ‘give up’ their birthday and help us buy a drilling rig fleet for our partners in Ethiopia. The new drilling rig can dig 80 new wells a year -- that's 40,000 more people getting access clean water each year! We’ll also mount a GPS device to the rig so donors can track its progress for years to come. Keep on top of our progress here > charitywater.org/september
Turning Five
It’s our 5th anniversary on September 7th and to celebrate we’re holding a huge party at The Park on 18th Street! Everyone’s invited so if you’re in the city, make sure to grab your ticket here > charitywater.org/five
