About This Job:
Pivotal Labs, a premier software development consultancy, is looking for an experienced systems administrator to bolster our operational expertise. We have 50 world-class Rails and mobile developers in our New York office and a development team of nearly 200 worldwide. We’re a Mac, Ubuntu, CentOS, and FreeBSD shop, and we use hosted solutions whenever possible, e.g. Google Apps for Domains, EasyDNS, etc. We need a flexible and talented senior sysadmin to support the New York office and its upcoming growth. We support a number of concurrent client projects, which leads to a very dynamic network configuration. Our enterprise clients often need local VMs and more detailed networking and VPN assistance, and the rapid growth of New York office and Pivotal Labs in general leads to a number of scaling projects to which you would contribute. In addition to strong technical chops, you must be comfortable in a fluid and informal development environment. Pivotal Labs feels much like a startup in culture, with ping-pong breaks, a preference for the good-enough solution today instead of the perfect solution tomorrow, and a flat hierarchy where initiative is encouraged. At the same time, we’re over 20 years old, believe very strongly in a sustainable 8-hour day, and have a well-honed process on the development side. It’s a great place to get things done, but also a fast-paced and intense environment with new challenges daily. Take a look through the list of responsibilities below, ask around about our reputation and culture, and send us your resume and cover letter if it seems like a good fit.
